A Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) project in Lake Worth Beach has been met with opposition, as some residents are reluctant to give the green light to a redevelopment plan being pitched by the CRA.
Residents like the community's historic and bucolic landscape and are leery of the new development, which is meant to increase tax revenue by attracting new businesses south of downtown.
When CRA purchased numerous properties located in the areas of South L and South M streets, and near First Avenue South, questions were posed by residents wondering what would become of the older properties.
CRA has been looking to move forward with redevelopment and has been accepting for proposals from developers. Increasing foot traffic downtown, and constructing housing and increasing parking in the area are some of the objective for the redevelopment.
